Interested in becoming a Volunteer?

You can visit the Arbor Vitae Town Hall (located at 10675 Big Arbor Vitae Dr.) in Arbor Vitae and request an application for the Arbor Vitae Fire & Rescue Department. Once you have completed an application return it to the town hall. Upon receipt of your application, a background check process will be completed. Provided you pass the background check, you will be contacted by an Officer of the Department to set up an interview date. All classes, books, and necessary firefighting & EMS equipment is provided by the Arbor Vitae Fire & Rescue Department.

Firefighter Basic Requirements

-Applicants must be 18 years of age or older (unless interested in our Jr. Firefighting program).

-Applicants must have a valid drivers license.

-Applicants must pass a background check.

-Applicants must live a reasonable distance from the Fire Station (this will be determined during interview).

-New members are required to complete the Wisconsin State Entry Level Firefighter 1 and Firefighter 2 within 1 year of joining the department. This class is recognized throughout the state and throughout the Nation.

-Firefighters are mandated by the state to complete a minimum number of training hours. The Arbor Vitae Fire & Rescue Department has mandatory training sessions throughout the year that must be completed.

-Firefighters must maintain a minimum amount of participation at meetings, trainings, and calls, as set by the department.

-The Fire Department meeting is held on the first Monday of every month.

Rescue Basic Requirements

-Applicants must be 18 years of age or older

 -Applicants must complete Wisconsin's Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) Class within one year of joining the department.

-Rescue members are mandated by the state to complete a minimum number of training hours. The Arbor Vitae Fire & Rescue Department has mandatory training sessions throughout the year that must be completed.

-Rescue Members must maintain a minimum amount of participation at meetings, trainings, and calls, as set by the department.

-Fire & Rescue meetings are held on the first Monday of every month.
